Interactive Portfolio Display
This interactive installation, housed at the ESC Media Art Lab in Graz, Austria, showcased individual projects from all students of the CMSI 2020 study program at FH Joanneum. Named the “Portfolio Machine,” it was a collective effort by Interaction Design students to uniquely present their study program and its participants through cutting-edge interactions.
The CMSI program launched under the exceptional circumstances of 2020, requiring online introductions and remote project collaborations instead of traditional in-person lectures. Overcoming the challenge of physical distance, especially in a creative field, we forged new connections in the virtual realm.
Our installation, titled “The Cloud,” symbolizes this non-physical space where we gathered and collaborated.
Interaction Method
At the heart of the project is a handmade cotton cloud. This interactive element integrates UX/UI principles, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), haptic design, and advanced interaction methodologies, seamlessly channeling data to the installation’s touchscreen.
Interface
The interface design features a custom font and a soothing palette of blue tones, inspired by the ethereal theme of the cloud installation. Adhering to UX/UI best practices, it ensures intuitive navigation and user-friendly interactions. Enhanced by Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) principles and haptic design, the interface provides a tactile and engaging experience. Developed with a focus on software innovation, it seamlessly integrates advanced functionalities to complement the interactive nature of the installation.
