Interactive Light Projection Exhibition

SeaLegacy

We face two major environmental challenges: climate change and biodiversity loss. The ice of the Antarctic is crucial for the health of our oceans and the future of our earth, our only home. It has an impact on the stability of our climate and the biodiversity of the seas, as vital ocean nutrients are distributed that feed a wide variety of fish populations and therefore also humans. However, the temperatures continue to rise, last year in some cases over 20°C were measured. Therefore protecting the oceans is an important issue for each of us. The organization SeaLegacy is committed to this with the mission to create healthy and abundant oceans. The exhibition stand is intended to draw attention to the fragility of our climate and how important it is to work together to protect and safe the earth.

Installation

The focus of the installation is on a melting iceberg, which is projected on all four sides of a pillar, so the observer gets the feeling that the iceberg is floating within it. From the water surface down flows the meltwater of the iceberg. The visitor can stop this melting in an individual place on each side of the pillar by positioning one hand on a projected marking within the water flow. If one hand touches the waterfall, it stops on this side and if a second hand touches the waterfall on the other side of the pillar, the waterfall stops and the iceberg begins to grow bigger again. The message is:

Everyone has to do one’s part against climate change and pollution of the oceans. This project shows that every helping hand does its part and all of us together must work together to stop climate change.
